Drainage solutions are critical to preserving the life of your asphalt. Catch basins are used to “catch” and redirect stormwater and any other excess water. Without proper drainage, the water will pool and settle into the asphalt causing the asphalt to separate from the aggregates and break down. This process may not be noticeable right away as it can happen slowly over time.
Water can infiltrate the area around catch basins and deteriorate the asphalt surrounding it. This can cause the frame and grate to shift out of place and create a sinkhole which then causes extended failure to the surrounding area.
This can be repaired easily and effectively if caught in the early stages.
